Show Outline

  • Read portions of the Google Card:

Initial release date: November 15, 2019

    Developer: Respawn Entertainment

    Publisher: Electronic Arts

  • Give a Brief synopsis of the story

  • Both give personal overall thoughts before taking a deeper dive into the game.

  • Talking points

    • Narratively speaking It’s got everything I could have ever wanted out of a Star Wars story, just in general

      • Wacky alien characters and creatures

      • lots of Lightsaber combat (lol)

      • a fun droid that aids the hero

      • force powers demonstrated

      • atypical heroes journey, start weak, get strong

      • the whole capture sequence (and the arena, I guess)

      • Fun cameo’s (spoilers)

      • The ONLY exception is space battles, which this game does not have and wouldn’t really fit into everything, lol

      • I do think we need to talk about the whole, it’s a lightsaber in every way except it can’t completely cut through things or slice through guys, aspect of stuff.

    • Almost felt like I was playing a Tomb Raider game?

    • The souls-influence: Was it a beneficial inclusion?

      • I think yes, because it promoted almost a Jedi-mindfulness. You didn’t rush in and attack like a mad man, but calculated each encounter.

    • Grandmaster difficulty: Too difficult, or did it have a rewarding learning curve?

      • Parts that I got stuck at:

        • The first tomb guardian robot dude

        • The arena (TWO STIMS)

        • The first AT-ST (but surprisingly not the bit with the two AT-ST’s)

        • The freakin’ giant bat dude

        • Some of the lightsaber wielding bosses

        • Deciding to run instead of fight

    • The game progressed really nicely, I thought. With how Cal unlocks upgrades or repairs his connection to the force and repaired his lightsaber and learned new moves was never overwhelming, and they always seemed to come at the right time, and narratively, it usually made sense?

    • Gotta talk about the music for sure. Fits the Star Wars catalogue very nicely.

    • Spoiler-y?

      • We have to talk about the Darth Vader appearance, that blew my socks off

    • Post completion stuff

      • I personally didn’t really feel the pull to go back into it

        • Think that the meditation training (to a degree) is something that should have been included from the start? Esp. With common enemy types. (and thus training against enemies without consequence).

          • But new game plus is nice though, and I guess that fills that need.

    • Conclusion

      • Briefly reiterate personal overall thoughts, maybe expand with additional opinions, and how it ranks for you (if more thoughts came up from discussing including here)

      • What kind of gamer would you recommend the game to?

      • What kind of gamer would you NOT recommend the game to?

    • Final remarks

      • Plug socials, or whatever

      • close out the show
