HADES is THE greatest roguelite of all time and is a strong contender for one of the BEST overall games, of all time. I don’t care what kind of gamer you are; this is a must-play masterpiece. NameBrand.
After over a hundred hours I can definitively say that I’ve poured my heart and soul into HADES, and while I have a lot of thoughts, I’ll keep them quite brief in writing. As a game reviewer, this seems a little counter-productive, but I believe some of the strongest recommendations are the most succinct, and that’s the case here. Just go play it.
SuperGiant has set a high bar for not just roguelites but for all video games. I don’t think I’ve played a more polished, fun, narratively compelling game in a long time. To top it off, the gameplay is engaging unique, and addicting. It’s got its bases covered on all fronts, so no matter what kind of gamer you are (yes, and even those who don’t enjoy roguelites), you owe it to yourself to give this game a chance. There’s something in here for everyone.
If you want to get 300 hours out of Hades: You can. If you want to get 10 — 40 hours out of Hades, you can. There’s an ungodly and impressive amount of work the developers have done to make sure that you can play this game until you’re sick of playing this game. Until you’re satisfied with how much you’ve collected or done. In the least, I recommend you see the story through, which is gripping and excellently voiced all along the way there.
But like I said. Just get the game. Stop reading this review, and get the game. Especially if it’s on sale or something, but even if it’s not, are you afraid you won’t get your money’s worth out of a 25$ video game? You just can’t go wrong getting it, trying it, and playing it. SuperGiant, you’ve made a lifelong fan out of me with this one. Hats off.
