Everyone Should Play Grow Home | Review
A Bite Sized Review, for a Small Game That Leaves a Big Impression...
Grow Home is a short but endearing little game that will captivate you immensely with its cozy, calm vibes, as you explore a miraculously tall world growing a strange plant. I absolutely enjoyed the time I spent playing it, and can’t help but recommend it.
It’s easy to compare it to something along the lines of Death Stranding, where the journey through the world is what makes the experience great. Though here, definitely imagine a much smaller scope, and climbing mechanics instead of walking mechanics.
Initially, it’s a bit tough to get used to the controls, because it’s so unique as compared to anything else I’ve ever played, but that’s something that you learn to really master by the time you’ve finished your journey growing upwards, which occurs after around 4 hours or so.
Other than the last fetch quest, which was a little nerve-racking because of the stakes of it, Grow Home was great to have as a casual, secondary game to jump into in-between me playing other games. I’d log in, explore a bit, find some collectibles, grow the plant, appreciate the vibes, and its overall artistic value. It’s nice to play as a way to wind down after playing something more fast-paced or intense.
The game has an excellent little ambient soundtrack that aids your journey quite nicely, and I noted to myself that I appreciated that more than I typically do.
Grow Home is quite the short game. However, I think the length works to its benefit, leaving me itching for more (can’t wait to see what’s in the sequel), but it also felt like it tied off all the loose ends as far as letting me experience literally everything it had to offer, just shy of a few achievements. That was nice for a change!
Ultimately, this has been a great experience that I could definitely see myself coming back to, making for a game that I see myself recommending to many of my friends. I recommend you play Grow Home!
Good to know about this game. Thanks for putting it on my radar. The niche of a “game to play between the game I am focused on” is an important niche in everyone’s video game library.
